The challenge
Queensland Magazines produced three of South East Queensland’s lifestyle publications: Indulge Magazine, Highlife Magazine and The West End Magazine; each featuring stories across dining, travel, culture, events and the local community. Taking over the design of these established publications, the challenge was to continue the visual style created by the previous designer while maintaining the premium feel, editorial quality and consistency that readers had come to expect. The solution
Working within the existing design direction, I took over the layout and production of each magazine, maintaining the established visual language while bringing my own attention to detail across each issue. The design process involved balancing editorial content, photography and advertising requirements to create engaging layouts that allowed stories and imagery to shine, while preserving the refined lifestyle aesthetic of each publication.
The outcome
The magazines continued to provide readers with a high-quality editorial experience across South East Queensland’s lifestyle market during their publication period. By maintaining the established look and feel, each issue remained consistent with the brands readers recognised while showcasing the stories, photography and advertisers that made each magazine unique.
